Avatar Border Patterns

I recently found a request for some of the patterns I used to make the borders on the Avatar Blanket, so here they are! (This is only for the borders. For the element symbols, I used the charts found on this post)

First up is the Avatar logo itself:

I think this is a bit modified from what I used in the blanket, but hopefully that makes it more accurate. For this piece, I had to make three separate pieces and stitch them together. The pattern is 19 stitches tall, and I made the border pieces all 23 stitches tall.

Then there are the letters I used around the borders:

This is just a chart with the 19 letters used around the edges, based off the font the show uses to flash the titles of the episodes. Each letter is 13 stitches tall and varying widths. I’m probably not going to upload the exact spacings of the letters to make the edges, but I’m sure you can figure it out 🙂 Or spell something else!

Corner swirls:

Nothing too exciting there, just didn’t want empty space. Same with the arrows pointing outward from the logo, I just didn’t want the outer borders to have interesting designs and the inner borders to look sad in comparison. Those were really simple though, just lines that were 3 stitches wide, and then arrows at the tips:

Justice League Patterns

I found my old drawings of some of the patterns from the DC Comics Justice League Blanket and decided I ought to upload them before I lose them. 

Each pattern is 60 rows tall. The square patterns are 60 stitches wide, the wider ones are 90 stitches wide. Enjoy!

Pokémon Patterns

I decided to try something new, that is, upload some patterns!

Really, all this is are the gridded images I used to create the Pokémon blanket above, with some explanation of how I used them to make the blanket. I crocheted each square individually, using double crochet and making each pixel in the images below two dcs wide and one dc tall. Each square was 110 dcs wide by 55 dcs tall.

And here are the gridded images:

Pikachu

Colors used: Black, Yellow, Red, White, Brown

In the blanket, I used a slightly more gold yellow for the background (it’s hard to see with the lighting in the picture, but it is a different yellow than what I used for Pikachu’s body)

Bulbasaur

Colors used: Black, Light Blue, Teal, Red, White, Bright Green, Dark Green

Apologies for the teal and dark green looking so similar in this pattern. I used teal on Bulbasaur’s actual body and dark green on the bulb on its back. I then used a kelly green for the background of the whole square.

Charmander

Colors used: Black, Orange, Tan, Teal, White, Red, Yellow

I used a darker orange for the background of this square. Note! That is a white square on the left eye, not part of the background!

Squirtle

Colors used:Black, Light Blue, Red, Brown, White, Tan

Dark blue for the background

Some notes about Squirtle: I think what I have gridded here is slightly different from what I used in making the actual blanket. I forgot to put the white around the right eye in the actual blanket (bad move…it looks so much better with the white…) and this gridded image might be a little wider than the one I used in the blanket..I’m not really sure how that happened, something when I was transferring it to digital form.
