Scarlet Witch Headband

Wanda’s headband took an exceptionally long time for me to conceptualize. I knew I wanted to use the red and black color scheme from the movie, but I didn’t know how to incorporate her powers into the headband. Thin lines don’t show up very well in the stitching I’m using, so I eventually gave up on trying to make something to represent the red energy around her hands and focused on the angular aspect of her costume instead. I used the comics face mask as inspiration and just alternated flipping it upside down along the pattern. Interestingly, this resulted in her initials being repeated across the whole headband, which at the very least entertains me.
I think I made the angles just a bit too open on the outer parts of the mask, so I might try to redo it in the future making it slightly more mask-like. This one could easily be mistaken for Black Widow just because of the color scheme. But overall, it is a really interesting pattern (if only vaguely inspired by Scarlet Witch) so I’m happy with it.

Hawkeye Headband

Hawkeye headband

For Hawkeye’s headband, I decided to use the chevron fletching pattern from the 2012 comics Hawkeye. From there it was just a repetitive pattern. I like this one because the pattern is very simple and it only uses two colors, but it actually comes out very clean (in contrast to the many colors and even more strands of yarn I had to deal with forĀ  this one). Plus I figured there was a good chance that the chevrons would end up looking like hearts but I seemed to be able to combat that fairly well.

So that’s Hawkeye, hopefully I can finish up another one shortly.

Winter Soldier Headband

Finally got around to making another one of these after feeling motivated from the new movie. I’m basically just making these in order of design inspiration, so lucky Bucky got to be the next one. Overall, this design was actually very simple, and I finished the entire thing in under three hours, so I’m pretty happy with it.

Captain America Headband

Second in the Avengers headband series, this one was an easy pattern for me to come up with, but a much less simple pattern to carry out, just because there were a lot of strands at the same time, leading to a whopping mess of tangled yarn. But it worked out and I’m very happy with it.

I used the same stitch, single crochet in front loops, back loops on repeat with a size H hook.

Quicksilver Headband

Quicksilver Headband

I’m starting a little side project making earwarmers/headbands with patterns inspired by the Avengers. The nice thing about this project is that I can make them whenever I want something more portable to work on on the go, and they only take a couple of hours each. Expect to see more interspersed with other projects.

I really like how the pattern turned out on this one. I used the zigzag across Quicksilver’s chest as inspiration, and it came out looking like something a skier would wear. It was also very quick to make, I think this was only around an hour or so.

The stitching was back loops, front loops on repeat, since that style has been working for me lately. I’ll probably end up doing all of the headbands in that stitching for uniformity’s sake.
